Protect your feet when you have diabetes

  • Shake out your shoes before you put them on.
  • Check your soles for nails or tacks.
  • Wear shoes all the time.
  • Change your shoes twice a day.
  • Wear socks in bed if your feet are cold at night.
  • Wear protective beach or surf shoes when swimming.
  • Wear tight shoes or socks.
  • Wear shoes without socks.
  • Walk barefoot, even indoors.
  • Use hot water bottles or heating pads on feet.
